It's OK To Not Be OK
There are seasons when life feels heavy. When your faith feels weak. When your heart is tired. When you smile in public but quietly fall apart in private. And somewhere along the way, many people started believing the lie that following Jesus means always being strong, always having it together, always being “fine.”
But Scripture paints a different picture. David wept. Elijah burned out. Jeremiah felt crushed. Paul admitted he was overwhelmed beyond his strength. Even Jesus wept in sorrow.
It’s okay to not be okay.
What’s dangerous is pretending you are. God never asked you to fake peace. He asked you to bring your burdens to Him. The Lord is not intimidated by your anxiety, your exhaustion, your grief, or your questions. He is near to the brokenhearted, not disappointed in them. Sometimes we think healing starts when we become strong enough. But often healing begins the moment we finally become honest enough. Honest enough to say: “I’m struggling.” “I’m tired.” “I don’t know what to do.” “I need help.” “I need Jesus.”
The beautiful thing about the Gospel is that Jesus meets us right in the middle of our weakness. He doesn’t wait for us to clean ourselves up before He draws near. He steps into the mess. Into the pain. Into the tears. Into the silence. Paul wrote:“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9
Not after weakness. Not once weakness disappears. In weakness. Sometimes God’s greatest work happens in the moments where we finally stop pretending to be strong.
You may feel overwhelmed today. You may feel emotionally exhausted. You may feel spiritually dry. But your struggle does not disqualify you from being loved by God. You are not failing because you’re struggling. You’re human. And the Lord is still holding you together even in the moments you feel like you’re falling apart.
So if you’re not okay right now, take a deep breath. You do not have to hide. You do not have to perform. You do not have to carry everything alone. Bring it to Jesus. He is gentle with weary people.
