Waiting on a Miracle

Waiting on a Miracle

There’s a kind of waiting that stretches you. Not the small, everyday waiting—like sitting in traffic or standing in line. I’m talking about the kind of waiting that settles deep in your soul. The kind where you’ve prayed… and prayed again… and nothing seems to be changing. You’re waiting on a miracle. Maybe it’s healing. Maybe it’s provision. Maybe it’s restoration in a relationship. Maybe it’s direction when everything feels unclear. And if you’re honest… it’s not just the situation that’s hard— it’s the silence. You start asking questions you didn’t expect: “God, do You see me?” “Are You still working?” “Did I miss something?” Waiting has a way of testing more than your patience. It tests your trust. Scripture doesn’t ignore that tension. It speaks right into it: “I waited patiently for the Lord; He inclined to me and heard my cry.” — Psalm 40:1 That word patiently doesn’t mean passively. It carries the idea of actively trusting while you’re still waiting. Because here’s what we often miss: Waiting is not where God stops working.
It’s often where He does His deepest work. We want the miracle. God wants to form something in us that can sustain it.

The Tension of “Not Yet”

One of the hardest parts of faith is living in the space between promise and fulfillment. You know God can. You believe God will. But right now… He hasn’t. That “not yet” space can feel like pressure. And if you’ve ever lived there, you know— pressure reveals things. It reveals what you really believe. It reveals where your hope is anchored. It reveals whether your faith is built on outcomes… or on God Himself. Because if your faith is only strong when the miracle shows up, then it was never really faith—it was expectation with conditions. But real faith says: “Even here… I trust You.”

God Is Not Late

It might feel delayed. It might feel like God is taking longer than He should. But Scripture reminds us: “The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise…” — 2 Peter 3:9 God doesn’t operate on our timelines. He operates with purpose. And sometimes what feels like delay… is actually preparation. Preparation in you. Preparation around you. Preparation for something bigger than you can currently see.

The Miracle Isn’t the Only Work

We tend to focus on the outcome. The healing. The breakthrough. The open door. But what if the miracle isn’t the only thing God is doing? What if:

  • He’s strengthening your faith
  • Deepening your dependence on Him
  • Reordering your priorities
  • Teaching you how to trust Him—not just for what He gives, but for who He is

Because a miracle can change your situation… but what God forms in you can change your life.

Don’t Miss Him While You Wait

It’s possible to be so focused on what you’re waiting for that you miss what God is doing right now. Don’t miss His presence. Don’t miss His voice. Don’t miss the small ways He’s showing up in the middle of the wait. Sometimes the greatest miracle isn’t immediate change… it’s sustained faith.

Keep Waiting… But Don’t Stop Walking

Waiting doesn’t mean you stop living. It doesn’t mean you stop trusting. It doesn’t mean you stop showing up. It means you keep walking forward— even when you don’t have all the answers. It means you keep praying— even when the answer hasn’t come yet. It means you keep believing— even when nothing looks different. Because faith isn’t proven in the breakthrough… it’s proven in the waiting.

If You’re Waiting Right Now

If you’re in that place today— waiting, praying, hoping, holding on—Hear this clearly: God has not forgotten you. He has not overlooked your situation. He has not ignored your prayers. And your waiting is not wasted. The same God who works in the miracle… is working in the middle. So keep trusting. Keep leaning in. Keep believing. Because even if the miracle hasn’t happened yet…God is already moving.
