You’ve Been Given Something to Give

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace… in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.” — 1 Peter 4:10–11

God didn’t save you just to sit—He saved you to serve.

Peter says, “each has received a gift.” Not some. Not just pastors, worship leaders, teachers, or people standing on a stage. Each one.

That means God has placed something inside of you that can be used to bless someone else.

Your gift may be teaching.
It may be encouragement.
It may be hospitality.
It may be generosity.
It may be leadership.
It may be serving quietly where nobody notices.

But whatever God has placed in your hands, He never intended for you to keep it to yourself.

YOUR GIFT ISN’T JUST FOR YOU

Peter says, “use it to serve one another.”

God gives gifts to individuals, but He gives them for the community.

Someone needs the encouragement God has placed in you.

Someone needs the compassion God has developed in you.

Someone needs the wisdom God has taught you.

Someone needs the testimony God has written through your life.

Sometimes we underestimate what God can do through something that seems ordinary to us. But when an ordinary gift is surrendered to an extraordinary God, He can use it in ways we never imagined.

YOU ARE A STEWARD, NOT AN OWNER

Peter calls us “good stewards of God’s varied grace.”

A steward understands, This belongs to God. He has simply entrusted it to me.

Your abilities belong to Him.
Your opportunities belong to Him.
Your influence belongs to Him.
Your time belongs to Him.
Your gifts belong to Him.

The question isn’t simply, “What am I gifted at?”

The better question is:

“God, how do You want me to use what You’ve given me?”

SERVE WITH HIS STRENGTH

Peter says that whoever serves should serve “by the strength that God supplies.”

That changes everything.

God doesn’t ask you to accomplish His work entirely through your own strength. The God who calls you to serve is also the God who supplies what you need to serve.

When you feel inadequate—depend on Him.

When you feel tired—depend on Him.

When you wonder whether you have enough—depend on Him.

You bring your availability. God supplies the strength.

IT’S ALL FOR HIS GLORY

Ultimately, spiritual gifts aren’t about getting attention for ourselves.

Peter tells us the goal:

“…that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.”

That’s the heart of serving.

Not, “Look what I can do.”

But, “Look what God can do through a surrendered life.”

Church isn’t meant to be a place where a handful of gifted people do ministry while everyone else watches.

We are the Church.

Every believer has been gifted.
Every believer has a place.
Every believer has something to contribute.

So don’t bury what God has given you.

Don’t compare your gift with someone else’s.

Don’t wait until you feel perfectly qualified.

Take what God has placed in your hands and use it to serve someone today.

Because God has uniquely equipped every believer for ministry.

Prayer:Lord, thank You for the gifts You have entrusted to me. Help me not to compare myself with others or underestimate what You have placed in my life. Show me where I can serve. Give me the strength I need, and use my life to encourage others and build Your Church. May everything I do point people back to Jesus and bring glory to You. Amen.

Remember: You have been gifted by God, strengthened by God, and sent to serve others for the glory of God.
