Wonderfully Made

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” — Psalm 139:14 (ESV)

It’s easy to look at ourselves and focus on what we wish were different. We compare ourselves to others. We notice our weaknesses. We remember our failures. And sometimes, if we’re not careful, we begin to believe that we are somehow less valuable because we don’t measure up to someone else.

But Psalm 139 reminds us of something powerful: You are not an accident. You are the workmanship of God. David says, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” That doesn’t mean we are perfect. It means there was purpose behind our creation. God knew exactly what He was doing when He made you. Your value isn’t determined by your appearance, your accomplishments, your income, your popularity, or someone else’s opinion of you. Your value begins with the One who created you. And notice David’s response: “I praise you.”

When David considered how wonderfully God had made him, it led him to worship. Instead of comparing himself to others, he looked toward his Creator.

Maybe today you’ve been struggling with insecurity. Maybe you’ve been questioning your worth or focusing on everything you think is wrong with you. Remember this: The God who created the heavens also created you. He knows you completely. He sees you fully. He formed you intentionally. And your life matters to Him.

Stop measuring yourself against everyone around you and start seeing yourself through the truth of God’s Word. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for creating me with purpose. Forgive me for the times I compare myself to others or allow insecurity to define how I see myself. Help me remember that I am Your workmanship and that Your works are wonderful. May my life bring glory to the One who made me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Today’s reminder: You don’t have to become someone else to have value. God created you intentionally, wonderfully, and for His purposes.
