When It Doesn’t Make Sense: Trusting God Beyond Your Understanding

Life doesn't always make sense. Doors close that we thought would open. Plans fall through. People let us down. We find ourselves in situations that leave us asking, "God, what are You doing?"
It's in these moments that we're faced with a choice: Will we try to figure it all out on our own - or will we trust God, even when it doesn't make sense?
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." - Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
This verse isn't just a feel-good proverb. It's a call to surrender. "Lean not on your own understanding" means we stop trying to control outcomes, stop obsessing over details, and stop depending on what we see or think we know.
That's hard - especially when we feel like we have to have answers. But God is asking for something greater than our logic - He's asking for our trust. Why? Because our understanding is limited. His is infinite. We see the moment. He sees the whole story. We feel the pressure. He holds the plan.
When we trust in the Lord with all our heart - not just the parts that are easy or comfortable - we give Him permission to lead us through uncertainty with peace, purpose, and confidence.
Trust doesn't mean we won't have questions. It means we choose faith even when we do. So if life feels confusing right now…If you're standing at a crossroads unsure of what to do…If the path ahead looks foggy… Take a deep breath. Stop leaning on what you understand. Start leaning into the God who already knows. He sees what you can't.
He's already where you're going. And His ways are always higher than ours.
Let's Pray: Lord, help me to stop relying on what I can figure out and start trusting in You with my whole heart. Lead me, guide me, and make my path straight - even when I don't understand. Amen.
