When Fear Grows Bigger Than Faith
“You block your dream when you allow your fear to grow bigger than your faith.”
God-given dreams rarely come wrapped in comfort. They often require risk, surrender, patience, and a willingness to step into the unknown. That is why fear becomes one of the enemy’s greatest weapons. He doesn’t always have to stop God’s plan—he only has to convince you to stop yourself.
Fear whispers: “What if you fail?” “What if you’re not enough?” “What if God doesn’t come through?” Faith asks a different question: “What if God is faithful?”The Bible is filled with ordinary people who faced extraordinary fears. Moses feared he wasn’t qualified. Gideon believed he was too insignificant. Peter feared the storm more than the Savior and began to sink. Yet every time they chose to trust God over their fears, they experienced His power in ways they never imagined.
Fear always magnifies the obstacles. Faith magnifies God. When the twelve spies entered the Promised Land, ten returned overwhelmed by the giants. Their fear distorted their perspective until they saw themselves as grasshoppers. Joshua and Caleb saw the same giants, but they also saw the greatness of God. The difference wasn’t the circumstances—it was what they chose to focus on. Many of us are standing on the edge of what God has called us to do. Maybe it’s starting a ministry, restoring a relationship, stepping into a new career, sharing your testimony, or simply taking the next step of obedience.
Don’t let fear become the loudest voice in your life. Faith doesn’t mean you won’t feel afraid. It means you choose to trust God anyway. Every dream God plants in your heart will require dependence on Him. If you could accomplish it in your own strength, you wouldn’t need faith. But God delights in doing what only He can do through people who are willing to trust Him.
Today, ask yourself:Is my fear bigger than my faith? If the answer is yes, don’t focus on making your fear smaller. Focus on making your view of God bigger. Spend time in His Word. Remember His faithfulness. Recall the prayers He has already answered. Worship before you worry. As your confidence in God grows, your fear begins to lose its grip. Don’t allow fear to keep you from the life God has prepared for you.
