Victory Through Faith in Jesus

Victory Through Faith in Jesus

And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.” — 1 John 5:5 (NLT)

There are battles in life that remind us very quickly that we are not strong enough on our own. We battle fear. We battle temptation. We battle discouragement. We battle the pressure to become like the world around us. We battle thoughts that tell us to give up. But John asks a powerful question: “Who can win this battle against the world?” And the answer isn’t the strongest person. It isn’t the person who has everything figured out. It isn’t even the person with the most willpower.

It is the person who believes in Jesus. Our victory isn’t found in trying harder. Our victory is found in trusting Jesus more. The world tells us that victory means having more, achieving more, being recognized, and getting everything we want. Jesus shows us something completely different. Sometimes victory is having peace when everything around you is uncertain. Sometimes victory is remaining faithful when walking away would be easier. Sometimes victory is trusting God when you don’t understand what He’s doing. Sometimes victory is getting back up after you’ve fallen. Sometimes victory is simply being able to say:“Jesus, I still trust You.” That’s what makes 1 John 5:5 so encouraging.

John doesn’t say we overcome because our circumstances finally cooperate. We overcome because Jesus has already overcome. Your battle may be real today. Your circumstances may still be difficult. Your questions may still be unanswered. But none of those things change who Jesus is. He is still the Son of God. He is still faithful. He is still with you. And He is still victorious. So don’t measure your victory by what you see happening around you. Measure it by Who you are trusting within it. You don’t have to conquer everything today. You simply have to keep your eyes on the One who already has. The victory isn’t found in your strength.
The victory is found in Jesus.

Prayer

Jesus, thank You that I don’t have to face the battles of this life in my own strength. When I feel overwhelmed, remind me that You have already overcome. Help me trust You when I don’t understand, follow You when the road is difficult, and believe that my victory is found in You. Amen.
