Trusting God in Uncertain Seasons

Trusting God in Uncertain Seasons

The Lord Goes Before You

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” — Deuteronomy 31:8Lately, I’ve been learning something about faith:Sometimes trusting God means walking toward something when you have absolutely no idea how it’s going to work out.

There are seasons when you look ahead and see more questions than answers. How are we going to make it financially? How is God going to provide? Will this relationship ever be restored? What is going to happen with my family? How am I going to keep carrying the responsibilities God has given me when I already feel exhausted? What does the next season even look like? And if we’re not careful, we can spend so much time worrying about what might happen tomorrow that we miss what God is saying to us today. “The LORD himself goes before you.” I love that.

God doesn’t stand behind us shouting directions. He goes before us. That means the place I’m afraid of going—He is already there. The conversation I’m nervous about having—He is already there. The bill I don’t know how I’m going to pay—He is already there. The relationship I desperately want to see restored—He is already there. The ministry need I don’t know how we’re going to meet—He is already there. The future I cannot figure out—He is already there.

God Is Already in Your Tomorrow

We worry about tomorrow because we’ve never been there before. But God has. Nothing that happens tomorrow will catch Him by surprise. There will never be a moment when God looks at your circumstances and says, “I didn’t see that coming.” He already knows. And even better—He is already working. Sometimes we assume that because we cannot see God moving, nothing is happening. But throughout Scripture, God was often working long before His people could see the evidence.

Joseph couldn’t see the palace from the prison.Israel couldn’t see the Promised Land while standing at the Red Sea. David couldn’t see the throne while hiding in caves. The disciples couldn’t see resurrection while staring at the cross. But God was working. And maybe somebody needs to hear this today: God is working in places you cannot see yet.

You Don’t Need the Whole Plan

This is where I struggle sometimes. I want God to show me how everything is going to work out. Show me the provision. Show me the restoration. Show me the breakthrough. Show me what happens next. Then I’ll feel better. But that isn’t usually how faith works. God rarely gives us enough information to eliminate the need for trust. Instead, He gives us enough grace for the next step. Maybe you don’t need to know how the next six months are going to work out. Maybe you just need enough faith for today.

Enough strength for today. Enough provision for today. Enough grace for today. And tomorrow? God will already be there.

The Road May Be Hard, but You Won’t Walk It Alone

Notice that Deuteronomy 31:8 doesn’t promise Joshua an easy road. There were still battles ahead. There were still giants. There were still difficult decisions. There were still moments when Joshua would have to choose courage over fear. The promise wasn’t: “Nothing difficult will happen.” The promise was: “I will be with you.” There’s a huge difference. Sometimes God doesn’t remove the valley. He walks through it with us. Sometimes He doesn’t immediately calm the storm. He reminds us that He is in the boat. Sometimes He doesn’t give us the answer we want. He gives us His presence instead. And I’m learning that His presence really is enough.

So I’m Choosing to Trust Him

I don’t know what tomorrow holds. There are still things I’m praying for. There are still things I don’t understand. There are still needs I don’t know how God is going to meet. There are still relationships I’m asking Him to restore. There are still moments when fear tries to convince me that everything depends on me figuring it out. But then I remember: The Lord goes before me.

So I don’t have to carry tomorrow today. I don’t have to solve everything tonight. I don’t have to know how the story ends before taking the next step. I can simply say: “Lord, I trust You with what I cannot see.” Because whatever is waiting for me tomorrow…God will be there first. And the same God who has carried me this far will not abandon me now. So keep walking. Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep believing. Keep taking the next faithful step. You may not know what’s ahead—but you know Who goes before you.

Prayer

Father, there are things ahead of me that I cannot see and situations I cannot control. Some days the uncertainty feels overwhelming. But today I choose to trust You. Go before me in my family. Go before me in my finances. Go before me in my ministry. Go before me in every relationship that needs healing. Go before me into every unknown place. When fear tells me I need to figure everything out, remind me that You are already working. Give me grace for today and faith for the next step. I don’t need to know everything that tomorrow holds because I know You are already there. Thank You for going before me, walking beside me, and promising never to leave me. I trust You with what comes next. Amen.
