The Constant Presence of Jesus
Matthew 28:20 “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” — Matthew 28:20 (ESV)
There are few promises in Scripture as comforting as these words from Jesus. He didn’t promise that life would always be easy. He didn’t promise there would never be pain, uncertainty, or disappointment. He didn’t promise that every prayer would be answered the way we hoped. But He did promise this: “I am with you always.” Not just on the mountaintops. Not just when your faith feels strong. Not just when you have all the answers. Always.
He is with you when you’re celebrating and when you’re grieving. He is with you when you’re walking confidently and when you’re barely taking the next step. He is with you in hospital rooms, lonely nights, difficult conversations, financial uncertainty, and seasons that make no sense. His presence isn’t dependent on your feelings. There will be days when God feels close and days when He seems silent. Yet His silence is never His absence. The same Savior who promised to be with His disciples after His resurrection is the same Savior who walks with His people today.
Notice that Jesus gave this promise as He commissioned His followers to make disciples. In other words, as they stepped into the unknown, He assured them they would never step into it alone. The same is true for us. Whatever assignment God has placed before you today, He has already gone ahead of you. Every door you walk through, every burden you carry, every battle you face—Jesus walks beside you. You may not know what tomorrow holds. But you know who will be there. His presence gives courage to the fearful, peace to the anxious, strength to the weary, and hope to those who feel like giving up.
So if today feels overwhelming, don’t focus on how capable you are. Focus on who is with you. The One who conquered sin and death has not left your side. And He never will.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that Your presence is constant even when my circumstances are changing. Help me remember that I never walk alone. Give me courage to trust You, peace in the middle of uncertainty, and confidence to follow wherever You lead because You have promised to be with me always. Amen.
