One Word Can Change Everything
One Word Can Change Everything
You never really know how far one encouraging word can go. A simple: “I’m praying for you.” “Don’t give up.” “I believe in you.” “God is with you.” Those words may seem small to the person speaking them… but to the person receiving them, they can become oxygen for a weary soul. The Bible says:“Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.” — Proverbs 12:25 (ESV) There are people walking around every day carrying silent battles. Some are exhausted. Some are discouraged. Some are barely hanging on. And often, they don’t need a perfect speech or a deep sermon in that moment — they just need an encouraging word. One word of encouragement can keep someone going longer than you realize. A kind word can stop someone from giving up. A hopeful word can lift someone out of despair. A loving word can remind someone they are seen. A godly word can point someone back to Jesus.
Never underestimate what God can do through your voice. Sometimes we think encouragement has to be dramatic, but often the most powerful encouragement is simple and sincere. A text message. A prayer. A conversation in the parking lot. A reminder that someone is not alone. You may not know the full impact your words carry on this side of eternity. What if the encouragement you almost didn’t send was the very thing someone prayed for that day? The world is already full of criticism, division, negativity, and discouragement. As believers, we are called to be different. We are called to build up, not tear down.
Speak life. Speak hope. Speak grace. Speak truth. You never know how long someone might hold onto one encouraging word. And maybe today, this is your reminder too: God has not forgotten you. He is still working. He is still faithful. And your story is not over.
