His Ways Are Higher

His Ways Are Higher

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” — Isaiah 55:9 (NKJV) There are moments when God simply doesn’t make sense to us. We pray, but the answer doesn’t come the way we expected. We make plans, but doors close. We obey, but somehow the road gets harder instead of easier. And sometimes we find ourselves looking toward heaven asking:“God, what are You doing?”

Isaiah 55:9 reminds us of something we desperately need in those moments: God sees what we cannot see. We see today. God sees tomorrow. We see the closed door. God sees what was behind it. We see the disappointment. God sees what He is developing through it. We see the delay. God sees the perfect timing. His ways are higher. That doesn’t mean His ways will always be easier. It doesn’t even mean we will eventually understand everything He allows. It means we can trust that God possesses a perspective we simply do not have.

Think about looking at the back of a tapestry. From underneath, all you see are knots, loose threads, strange colors, and seemingly random patterns. It looks messy. But turn it over, and suddenly you see the picture. Sometimes life feels like we’re staring at the underside of the tapestry. We see the knots. God sees the masterpiece. And faith is trusting the One holding the threads even when we can’t see the finished picture. Maybe you’re walking through something right now that isn’t what you planned. Maybe you’re waiting for an answer. Maybe you’re wondering why God allowed something to happen. Maybe you’re trying desperately to figure out what He’s doing. You don’t have to understand everything to trust Him. His thoughts are higher.
 His perspective is greater.
 His wisdom is perfect.
And His ways are still good.

One day we may look back and understand why God allowed certain things. Other things may remain mysteries until eternity. But our confidence isn’t found in understanding God’s plan. Our confidence is found in knowing God’s character. So when you don’t understand His hand, trust His heart. The God who sees the beginning also sees the end. And His ways are higher.

Prayer

Lord, there are things in my life that I don’t understand. There are places where Your plan looks different from mine. Help me stop trying to figure everything out and learn to trust You. Remind me that You see what I cannot see and know what I cannot know. When Your ways don’t make sense to me, give me faith to believe that Your ways are higher. In Jesus’ name, amen.
