Hallelujah Anyway
Last night I was at a Rend Collective concert with my family. It has become a tradition to try and see them anytime they are in the area. If you have ever seen them then you know it’s a celebration and time of joy. But I found myself not feeling very joyful because of personal family issues we are dealing with… and then they played a song called “Hallelujah anyway” the lyrics hit real hard and i found myself sitting in a room with hundreds of people unable to control the tears that fell from my eyes… the song goes like this.
Lyrics
I'll find a way to praise You
From the bottom of my broken heart
'Cause I think I'd rather strike a match, than curse the dark
Yeah I'll find a way to thank You
Though bitterness is real and hard
'Cause I'd rather take a chance on hope, than fall apartI don't think I'm ready to surrender into the dark, noEven if (even if) my daylight never dawns
Even if (even if) my breakthrough never comes
Even if (even if) I'll fight to bring You praise
Even if (even if) my dreams fall to the ground
Even if (even if) I'm lost, I know I'm found
Even if (even if) my heart will somehow say
Hallelujah anyway (Hallelujah anyway)

There’s a kind of faith that only shows up when everything is falling apart. Not the loud, confident, victory-on-the-mountaintop kind of faith…But the quiet, trembling, barely-holding-on kind. The kind that whispers,“God, I still trust You… even if.” We love the stories where God comes through. Where the prayer gets answered. Where the miracle happens. Where the breakthrough comes right on time. But what about when it doesn’t?What about when the healing doesn’t come? When the door stays closed? When the prodigal doesn’t return? When the situation gets worse instead of better? That’s where real faith is revealed.
Faith That Stands in the Fire
In Daniel 3, three men stand before a king and a furnace. Their words are some of the most powerful in all of Scripture:
“Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us…
But if not, we will not bow.”
That’s it. That’s the line. Not just God can…But even if He doesn’t. That’s unshaken faith.
The Faith We Don’t Talk About Enough
We celebrate faith that wins battles. But Scripture also honors faith that walks through fire. Faith that keeps praying when heaven feels silent. Faith that keeps showing up when the heart is breaking.Faith that keeps trusting when nothing makes sense. That kind of faith doesn’t trend. It doesn’t go viral. But it moves the heart of God.
Even If the Story Looks Different
Maybe your story right now doesn’t look like the testimony you were hoping for. Maybe it feels unfinished. Unanswered. Unresolved. But faith says:
- Even if I don’t understand, God is still good.
- Even if this doesn’t change, God is still faithful.
- Even if the outcome isn’t what I prayed for, God is still worthy.
Because your faith was never meant to be anchored to outcomes…It was meant to be anchored to Him.
Jesus: The Ultimate “Even If”
In the garden, Jesus prayed:
“If it is possible, let this cup pass from me…
Nevertheless, not my will, but Yours be done.”
That’s the ultimate even if. And because He said yes in that moment, we have hope in every moment.
A Faith That Cannot Be Shaken
Anyone can worship when the miracle comes. But there is something powerful—something deeply rooted and unshaken—about the person who lifts their hands and says: “God, I trust You… even if.” Even if the answer is no. Even if the waiting continues. Even if the breakthrough doesn’t come the way I hoped. Because at the end of the day…God is still God. He is still good. And He is still worthy. Even if.
