Finding strength in God through weakness

Finding strength in God through weakness

Strength for the Journey

“It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect.” — Psalm 18:32 (NKJV)

There are seasons when we become painfully aware of our own weakness. We run out of energy. We run out of answers. We run out of confidence. We reach the point where we simply don’t know if we have enough left for what’s ahead. But David reminds us of something powerful: The strength we need doesn’t have to come from us. “It is God who arms me with strength…”

David knew what it was like to face battles bigger than himself. He knew exhaustion, opposition, fear, betrayal, and uncertainty. Yet when he looked back over his life, he didn’t say, “Look how strong I was.” He said, “It is God.” That changes everything. God never asked you to manufacture enough strength to carry everything life puts in front of you. He invites you to depend on His strength.

Sometimes God changes the situation. Sometimes He removes the obstacle. But sometimes He does something just as miraculous: He strengthens you to walk through it. You may feel weak today, but weakness does not mean you are defeated. It may simply mean you’ve reached the place where you can no longer rely on yourself. And that is often where we discover the strength of God most clearly. Paul heard Jesus say: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9

Notice the second half of Psalm 18:32:“…and makes my way perfect.” David wasn’t saying every road would be easy. He was saying God was directing his steps. The God who strengthens you is also the God who leads you. So if the road ahead feels uncertain, you don’t have to know every turn. You just need to trust the One who does.

Maybe today your prayer doesn’t need to be:“Lord, make everything easier.”Maybe it needs to be:“Lord, give me the strength to keep walking the road You have placed before me.” You don’t need tomorrow’s strength today. You need enough grace for this step. And the God who brought you this far will give you what you need for the next one.

Hold Onto This

When my strength runs out, God’s strength has not.

Prayer:
Lord, I admit that there are things in front of me that I cannot handle in my own strength. Thank You that I don’t have to. Arm me with Your strength today. Direct my steps, steady my heart, and help me trust You with the road ahead. When I feel weak, remind me that You are strong. In Jesus’ name, amen.
