Don’t Grow Weary
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” — Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)
There are seasons in life when faithfulness feels invisible. You keep praying, but the answer hasn’t come. You keep serving, but no one seems to notice. You keep loving, but the relationship still hurts.You keep giving, but the finances don’t improve. You keep trusting, but the breakthrough hasn’t arrived. If you’ve ever felt like asking, “What’s the point?” then Galatians 6:9 is God’s encouragement to your weary heart.
Paul doesn’t say believers might grow weary—he assumes we will. Doing good isn’t always easy. Following Christ isn’t always glamorous. Obedience often means planting seeds long before you ever see a harvest.The temptation isn’t usually to stop believing in God. It’s to stop believing that your faithfulness matters. But God sees every act of obedience. Every unseen sacrifice. Every quiet prayer. Every encouraging word. Every moment you chose forgiveness instead of bitterness. Every time you honored Him when no one else was watching. Nothing done for the Lord is ever wasted.
The verse also reminds us of something we often forget: God’s timing is different from ours. We want immediate results. God is interested in lasting fruit. Farmers don’t plant seeds one day and expect a harvest the next morning. There is watering, waiting, and trusting before the crop ever appears. In the same way, God is often doing His deepest work beneath the surface, where we cannot yet see it. The hardest part of faith is usually the waiting. But notice the promise: “We shall reap.” Not might. Not maybe. God doesn’t promise the harvest will come according to our schedule, but He does promise that faithful obedience is never meaningless.
The condition is equally important: “If we do not lose heart.” The enemy knows he doesn’t always have to make us sin to hinder us. Sometimes all he has to do is convince us to quit. Quit praying. Quit serving. Quit forgiving. Quit trusting. Quit believing that God is working. But the harvest belongs to those who keep going. Maybe today you’re exhausted. Maybe you’re wondering if your prayers for a prodigal, your efforts in ministry, your work as a parent, or your daily faithfulness are accomplishing anything. Take heart. God hasn’t forgotten you. The seeds you’ve been planting in obedience are still in His hands.What feels like a delay is not a denial. Your labor in Christ is not in vain. Keep showing up. Keep trusting. Keep doing the next faithful thing. The harvest is coming—in God’s perfect time.
Reflection
Where have you become weary in doing good? Instead of measuring your faithfulness by visible results, ask God for the strength to remain faithful today. The breakthrough you’re longing for may be closer than you realize.
Prayer
Father, when I grow tired and discouraged, remind me that You see every act of obedience. Help me not to measure my faith by immediate results but by my willingness to trust You day after day. Give me strength to keep serving, keep praying, and keep believing, even when I cannot yet see the harvest. Thank You that Your promises never fail and that You are always working behind the scenes. Help me not to lose heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
