Don’t Forget to Give Thanks

Don’t Forget to Give Thanks

Prayer is one of the greatest gifts God has given us. Through prayer we bring our burdens, requests, and even our deepest longings before the throne of grace. And time after time, the Lord hears us.He answers according to His perfect wisdom and timing. But here's something we often forget: to give thanks when the answer comes.

In Luke 17, Jesus healed ten men who were suffering from leprosy. Out of the ten, only one returned to fall at Jesus' feet and give thanks. Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?" (Luke 17:17).

Gratitude mattered to Jesus then, and it still matters today.

Thanksgiving is more than polite manners - it is an act of worship. When we stop to say "thank You, Lord" we acknowledge that He is our Provider, our Healer, our Deliverer.

Giving thanks shifts our hearts from focusing on what we still need to celebrating what God has already done.Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" That means thanks should be on our lips not just before the answer comes, but also after.

So let's make it a rhythm of life:When you pray - ask boldly. When God answers - pause and thank Him sincerely. When you're still waiting - praise Him in advance.

Every answered prayer is an opportunity to worship. Don't rush past it. Don't forget. Lift your voice and say, "Thank You, Lord, for hearing me”

Question for reflection: When was the last time God answered a prayer in your life? Did you stop to give Him thanks?
