All Things Work for Good: Trusting God’s Plan in Every Season

Life is full of twists and turns—some joyful, others painful. In the midst of struggles, it can be hard to believe that anything good could come from our trials. Yet, Romans 8:28 gives us a profound promise:“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

This verse doesn’t say that all things are good, but that God works all things together for good. It’s a reminder that even in our darkest moments, He is weaving a greater story—one of redemption, growth, and purpose.

Finding Purpose in Pain

Difficult seasons can feel overwhelming. We question, we wrestle, and sometimes, we doubt. But God sees the bigger picture. Joseph’s life is a perfect example. Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and thrown into prison, his situation seemed hopeless. But in the end, Joseph rose to power in Egypt and was able to save his family from famine. He later told his brothers:“You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” (Genesis 50:20)

Like Joseph, we may not understand God’s plan in the moment, but we can trust that He is using our pain for a purpose.

God’s Goodness in Every Circumstance
Often, God’s goodness is revealed over time. What seems like a setback may actually be a setup for something greater. A closed door might be protecting us from harm, or a painful situation might be shaping our character for what’s ahead.

Consider these truths when you face hardships:

• God is always in control. Even when life feels chaotic, He remains sovereign.

• Trials strengthen our faith. Hardships teach us to rely on Him, not on our own strength.

• God’s timing is perfect. We may not see the outcome now, but He is always working behind the scenes.

Choosing Faith Over Fear
Believing that all things work for good requires faith. It means trusting God even when we don’t see the full picture. It means surrendering our fears and doubts, knowing that His plans are always for our ultimate good.

So, no matter what season you’re in—whether one of joy or hardship—hold onto this truth: God is working. Your story is not over, and He is using every moment to shape something beautiful.

Keep trusting. Keep believing. Because in God’s hands, all things truly work for good.
